Gum arabic is a plant resin that is mainly used as a binding agent in painting. It plays a central role in the production of watercolors, gouache and inks. Its main functions in painting are:
Binding agent for pigments:
Gum arabic is used to bind pigment particles and distribute them evenly on the painting surface. This allows the paints to adhere better to paper or other surfaces and gives them a smooth, even texture.
Transparency and shine:
In watercolors, gum arabic provides the transparency of the colors and at the same time gives them a slight shine. It helps to control the water and improve the flow properties of the paint.
Increases flexibility:
It gives the dried paint a certain flexibility, prevents cracks and enables smoother transitions between colored areas.
Stabilizer for colors:
Gum arabic increases the durability of paints, prevents flaking and protects the painting in the long term.
Use in retouching and varnishes:
Gum arabic is also used in some varnishes or retouching varnishes to protect paintings or to freshen up dull surfaces.

This product is intended exclusively for the production of plant-based dyes and for artistic and craft purposes. It is not suitable for consumption. Avoid dust formation as much as possible and store the product in a dry place out of the reach of children. For processing, we recommend using separate tools that are not used for food.

No. There is no minimum shelf life requirement for dried plants sold as raw materials for the production of plant-based dyes. When stored in a dry place away from light, they can usually be kept for several years. Storage instructions can be found in the product data sheets.
