Content:
Black pigment powder from Afghanistan | 8 g in a small glass bottle with screw cap
Background:
Afghan women from our sevengardens network have, over a long period of time, created embroidery—initially in traditional geometric patterns, later in more open, expressive forms: self-portraits, landscapes, dreams.
With the return of the Taliban, this was gradually prohibited:
first the motifs, then the colors, and finally the act of embroidery itself.
What remains is the essence.
A black.
Derived from pomegranate and war iron.
This color is more than a material.
It is condensed memory.
It is both prohibition and expression.
It can be used as ink or drawing ink.
With gum arabic, it becomes a trace.
This color does not need to be used to be effective.
Its value lies in awareness.
In knowing what is no longer allowed to be visible—
and yet still exists.
A color as a sign of solidarity.
