Would you like to wear a flower meadow on your hairband? Our scrunchie set contains everything you need - you just have to collect the flowers yourself.
Set contents:
Fabric (tube) for scrunchie
Stained with gall apples, alum and washing soda
Fabric (white) for experiments
Stained in acetic acid clay
Instructions:
Dip the fabric (tube) in clear water and squeeze it out a little. Then place fresh or dried flowers on the damp fabric. Then roll it up tightly so that the flowers are well rolled up. Tie the thread tightly at the end. Place the still damp bundle of fabric with the rolled up flowers in the preserving jar, screw the lid on tightly and place it in a sunny spot. After 1-2 weeks, the sun will have transferred the color of the flowers to the fabric. The whole thing is called Eco Print.
Open your fabric bundle, shake out the flower remnants and leave everything to dry. To be on the safe side, you can iron it again and then wash out the ribbon with clear water or pH-neutral detergent (e.g. wool detergent).
We have sewn a piece of fabric for you so that it has become a small tube that you can pull onto an elastic band after dyeing to make a scrunchie. This piece of fabric is stained with gall apples, alum and washing soda so that the vegetable dyes hold well. Hence the brownish color at the beginning.
We have stained a second piece of fabric (the whiter one) with acetic clay. Feel free to experiment with it and maybe sew something of your own?
And because we want to do it sustainably: The fabric was once a white tablecloth.
Have fun with Ecoprinting!
