White clay, also known as kaolin, is mainly used in painting as a filler and primer. It has various important functions:
Primer for painting surfaces:
White clay is often used in gesso mixtures that are used to prime canvases and wooden panels. Its fine texture creates a smooth, even surface on which the paint adheres better and can be easily applied.
Filler in paints:
Kaolin is used in some paints as a filler to improve the consistency of the paint without affecting the brilliance of the color. This allows the paint to be applied thicker and increases the opacity.
Matting agent:
White clay gives the paint a matte surface. It can be used in combination with other binding agents to avoid a shiny finish, which is particularly advantageous for frescoes and murals.
Pigment stabilization:
Kaolin stabilizes pigments in paint mixtures and prevents them from settling or clumping during drying.

Ensure adequate ventilation during processing and use appropriate protective equipment (e.g., gloves or safety goggles) if necessary. Keep out of reach of children. Use only with designated work equipment that is no longer used for food.

Our additives are mineral or simple chemical substances for which there is generally no minimum shelf life. When stored in a dry place and tightly sealed, they can usually be kept for many years. It is particularly important to protect them from moisture, as otherwise they may clump together or change their properties.
